Supervision

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Supervision and am a BACP Senior Accredited Supervisor/ Specialist Supervisor.

My experience includes supervising counsellors and professionals working at organisations such as Broadreach and The Zone, Haye Mill, Counsellors Southwest, Kooth, Plymouth Marjon University, Derriford Hospital Occupational Health, The Margaret Jackson Centre. I also supervise counsellors/psychotherapists working in private practice.

Not only do I supervise counsellors and psychotherapists, but I also supervise other professionals such as health workers, social workers, mental health occupational therapists, specialist mentors in higher education and addiction support workers.

I see my task as providing you with a relationship in which:

  • You are free to explore your practice and discover what you want to learn from it.
  • You feel safe enough to talk about practice which you feel has not gone well as well as practice that feels to have been
  • good.
  • You can explore and experience your personal self, alongside the development of your professional self (and any
  • tensions you may experience between the two).
  • You experience my empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence.
  • I offer my knowledge and expertise
  • You feel supported with ethical and legal tensions that arise within your work.

As a Person-Centred supervisor, my focus is on you as a person. We will look together at your processes, meaning making and experiences.

I aim to accompany you while you explore your work in an environment of trust, confidentiality, safety and good humour. I believe professional growth, confidence and joy can be fostered from being fully encountered by a supervisor with whom you relate profoundly.

I offer the core conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence, whilst also offering my practice wisdom, including expertise knowledge accumulated from twenty-five years of experience and training

“Wisdom in Greek was Sophia, as in our word “philosophy”, love of wisdom. Sophia had a most practical meaning, referring originally to the crafts of handling things, especially to the helmsman who steers the boat. The wise one steers well; the wisdom of the helmsman shows in the art of making minor adjustments in accord with accidents of water, wind and weight.”
Hillman (1996), The Soul’s Code: In Search of Character and Calling

I work face-to-face in Horrabridge, Devon, as well as online. For one-to-one supervision, I charge £70 per hour, or £90 for 90 minutes. Please read my Supervision agreement on this following link below: Juliana Hopkins Supervision Agreement

Words of Appreciation

Supervision

I have found our supervision sessions invaluable in terms of constructive reflection which has enabled me to manage my clinical work and the potential emotional impact of it.

Supervision

I have been engaging in supervision sessions with Juliana on a monthly basis since Oct 2017. This in itself is testament to the successful relationship we have and the benefits I feel from the work we do together. Particularly I thrive, am inspired by, and develop my own practice from these of Juliana’s approaches to her work

Supervision

Juliana has been my Supervisor for the past five years. As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I have valued her experience, her way of working…and her warmth. I have used her as a role model as well as a supporter.

Supervision

Juliana challenges me when necessary but also reassures and encourages. When I have ventured into new fields, she has facilitated my learning and my practice. She has recommended books, provided copies of relevant articles and even checked facts with BACP

Supervision

Juliana has been attentive and understanding during our (supervision) sessions. I have felt heard and held. Her knowledge and experience is evident and she is warm yet curious in her responses. I have learnt much from her and enjoy the warm friendly environment including from the dogs and cat
